The local Arabian Bemco Contracting on 24 May signed the contract to expand Najran power station in the south for Saudi Electricity Company (SEC).

Bemco in March submitted the lowest offer at SR 327.5 million ($87.3 million) for the contract, which calls for the installation of a 50-MW gas turbine, substation modifications and overhead line works.

The other bidders were National Contracting Company (NCC) and the local Al-Toukhi Contracting. Contractors are also preparing to submit bids to SEC by 31 May for the expansion of Qurrayat power plant.
